This was said by George Catlin about a People in the pre-"civilization" era prior to the mid to late 1800's -- I love a people that have always made me welcome to the very best that they had.I love a people who are honest without laws, who have no jails and no poorhouses.I love a people who keep the commandments without ever having read or heard them preached from the pulpit.I love a people who never swear or take the name of God in vain.I love a people "who love their neighbors as they love themselves."I love a people who worship God without a Bible, for I believe that God loves them also.I love a people whose religion is all the same, and who are free from religious animosities.I love a people who have never raised a hand against me, or stolen my property, when there was no law to punish either.I love and don't fear mankind where God has made and left them, for they are his children.I love the people who have never fought a battle with the white man, except on their own ground.I love a people who live and keep what is their own without lock and keys.I love a people who do the best they can. And oh how I love a people who don't live for the love of money.

My commentary:
As an advocate for using the natural law in the place of manmade laws, I found this article on Barefoot's World . I used to frequent this website for a few years during my "tax protesting" days and I just remembered it recently.
In reading the text of this one piece, it is quite remarkable that the so-called "savages" were actually very friendly and made their guests feel at home. They didn't have passports or IDs, they just came and went at their own pleasure.
Their honesty was a part of who they were and they didn't need any written documents to understand that it is unlawful to steal anything from anyone. The government doesn't have any license to steal and it operates completely outside of the natural law. These people understood the commandments without ever reading a bible or any other writing. They knew right from wrong as that knowledge is present within the natural law.
Also, this piece was written about 1840 and notice how he mentions that these people didn't swear oaths. Oath taking is one of the biggest problems that western civilization has because it comes from the Evil One.
Who are the savages?
The real savages today are the people who are involved with the governments and the religions. They think nothing of killing millions of people in the name of their stupid governments which are all based upon oath taking. The wars are endless and the communist economic systems destroy and eat out the substance of the people who work.
I've never doubted that most people are, essentially, fascists and tyrants, even if consciously unaware of it themselves and their ways consciously unintended.
ReplyDeleteArticles like this explain better the how and why of what I've always noticed and observed, but could never fully put in words and was always perplexed about.
